The catchphrase for the “World’s Greatest Taiko Parade” is “Come, See, Be Enchanted, and Be Part of It”.と、神様によって鬼は退治され、二度と悪さをしないよう岩に手形を残させたのが「岩手」の由来とか。鬼の退散を喜んだ里の人たちが「さんさ、さんさ」と踊ったと言われている。藩政時代から広く踊り継がれてきたさんさ踊りは、「盛岡さんさ踊り」として市内中心部でパレードする規模に発展した。祭りの見どころは、ビル街に鳴り響く太鼓の力強いリズムにあわせて、盛岡の夏を彩るエネルギッシュな集団パレード、輪踊り、伝統さんさ踊りなど華麗な踊り。和太鼓同時演奏の世界記録を持った太鼓大パレードも必見。The world’s largest taiko drum ensemble will rock the summer in MoriokaOnce upon a time, an evil demon appeared in the area of Morioka Castle, so the desperate people of the village prayed at Mitsuishi Shrine. The gods vanquished the demons and made them leave their handprints on the rocks so that they would never misbehave again, which is said to be the origin of the name “Iwate“. It is said that the people of the village, happy that the demons had been vanquished, danced “sansa, sansa“. The Sansa Odori has been widely danced since the feudal era, and has developed into the “Morioka Sansa Odori” parade in the center of the city. The highlight of the festival is the energetic parade of people who color the summer of Morioka to the powerful rhythm of taiko drums echoing through the city’s buildings, as well as the spectacular dancing of the Wa Odori, traditional Sansa Odori, and other dances.
