Guests inside and outside the prefecture are invited to a feast of dancing by several groups.な所で、特に高千穂峰は神話「天孫降臨」の舞台であるともいわれている。天孫降臨霧島九面太鼓保存会は、昭和47年に霧島温泉商工会青年部が霧島温泉に郷土芸能をつくろうと考え、霧島神宮の宝物として保存されている九つの面と、伝え継がれている「天孫降臨」の神話を太鼓の演舞で創作したことが始まり。九面の神々が、白の衣装を身に纏って高天原から降りて来る様子を、太鼓や法螺貝、笛を使った演奏で表現する。幻想的な雰囲気の中、天にも届けとばかりに打ち鳴らされる太鼓が見る人々を魅了する。天孫降臨霧島祭は、地域に継承されている伝統芸能を通して、霧島の活力と魅力を発信するため、霧島九面太鼓保存会や霧島神楽振興会、観光協会や行政などが実行委員会を結成して開催しており、県内外からゲストを招き、霧島を代表する「霧島神楽」、「霧島九面太鼓」を中心として、真夏の最後を彩る。Taiko drums resonate with ancient Shinto music and dancing, marking the last days of midsummer in this land of myths.Kirishima is at the center of Kagoshima Prefecture, and in 1934 the scenic area was the first place in Japan to be designated as a national park. Mount Takachiho in particular is said to be the setting for the mythical Tenson kōrin, which is the descent of the grandson of the sun goddess Amaterasu from Heaven to Japan. In 1972, the youth branch of the Kirishima Onsen Chamber of Commerce and Industry founded the Kirishima Kumen Taiko Preservation Society, with the intention of creating a local performing art for Kirishima Onsen. They created a taiko drum performance featuring the nine masks preserved as treasures at Kirishima Jingu Shrine and the myth of Tenson kōrin, which has been passed down through the generations. The nine masked gods, dressed in white, descend from the high heavenly realm in a performance using drums, conch shells, and flutes. The sound of taiko drums being struck loud enough to reach the heavens enchants all who see them amid the dreamlike atmosphere.The Tenson Korin Kirishima Festival celebrates the descent of the gods through traditional performing arts passed down in the region, to convey the vitality and charm of Kirishima. The festival is organized by an executive committee consisting of the Kirishima Kumen Taiko Preservation Society, the Kirishima Kagura Promotion Society, the Tourism Association, and local governments. Guests from within and outside of the prefecture are also invited.
