ホームページ ▶ http://www.town.minamitane.kagoshima.jp/開催日：毎年1月中旬、午後6時過ぎより場所：南種子町平山・茎永・上中地域 各民家車：南種子市街地から国道58号線経由で約20分/種子島観光情報アクセス：https://tanekan.jp/南種子町役場 0997-26-1111Date：Every year in mid-January, after 6:00 p.m.Place: Every private house in Hirayama, Kukinaga, and Kaminaka areas of Minamitane-town Car: 20 min. from Minamitane Town via Route 58 / Tanegashima Tourist InformationMinamitane Town Hall 0997-26-1111着物姿で女装した青年男子が踊る蚕舞。Silkworm dance performed by men dressed as women in kimonoにかけて各家を訪問する小正月行事である。蚕舞は読んで字の如く、蚕に似せた踊りで、青年男子が着物姿で女装して各家庭を回り、手踊りで優雅な舞を披露する。頭巾の顔の中心部は蚕の口に似せてある。中でも、平山地域の蚕舞では、ゲーマーといわれる「ひょっとこ」が面白おかしく踊り、舞いをひきたたせる。踊り子のほかに太鼓、鉦の鳴り物も入る。まず玄関前に並び、太鼓と鉦に合わせて歌をうたう。そして頭巾に着物姿で女装した成年男子が、家にあがり扇子や座敷の柱に掛けているダゴ（柳の枝に餅をさし繭に似せたもの）を担いで優雅な舞いを披露する。もともと養蚕が盛んになるようにと、島主が奨励して行なわせていたものといわれており、現在は家内繁栄と無病息災などを祝う行事として地域で伝承されている。茎永地区では茎永校区青年団が主体となって伝統行事である「蚕舞」を継承しており、地域の高校生にも呼びかけるなど、「蚕舞」を絶やさないように活動を続けている。The silkworm dance is a funny dance with the addition of a Hyottoko called GemaThe “Silkworm Dance, Kagoma” is a small New Year's event in Kukinaga, Minamitane Town, located in the southern part of Tanegashima Island, where dancers visit homes from January 14 to 20 every year. In this dance, called Kagoma (Silkworm Dance), young men dressed in women's kimono visit each household and perform a graceful hand dance. The dance is so named because it imitates the movements of silkworms, and the central part of the hood is shaped to resemble a silkworm’s mouth. In the Hirayama area's silkworm dance, a “Hyottoko” called Gema dances in an amusing way and accentuates the dance. In addition to the dancers, there are also drummers and gongs. First, they line up in front of the entrance and sing a song to the sound of drums and gong. Then, men dressed in kimono and hoods and wearing women's clothing go up to the house and perform an elegant dance, carrying fans and Dago (rice cakes attached to willow branches that resemble cocoons) that are hung on the pillars of the tatami room. It is said that the island lord encouraged the performance in order to promote sericulture, and it is now handed down in the local community as an event to celebrate family prosperity and good health.
