The "Shishiba Matsuri" and "Rokusha no Inari" rituals are held on the 16th.伝わる山岳信仰や狩猟習俗を色濃く反映している。また、中世の豪族菊池氏とともにこの地に入山したとの伝承がある征西将軍懐良親王にかかわる雅な文化の影響を受けた。さらに天和年間には銀鏡神社社家が日南市の鵜戸山道場（現鵜戸神宮）で修得した神楽を持ち帰り、これが従来の神楽に大きく影響し今日の「銀鏡神楽」となったといわれている。修験道や陰陽道、両部神道が織り込まれる中、江戸後期に唯一神道の影響を受け、問答や唱教から仏教色が一掃されているのが特徴である。土地神を鎮守社に迎える「神迎え」から始まり、外神屋の祭壇に供えられた猪頭（ししがしら）の前で夜を徹して30番の神楽が奉納された後、明けた午後に演じられる「ししとぎり」では、翁と婆、狩行司が登場し、おかしみを込めて猪狩りの様子が演じられる。33番ある神楽の中でも「ししとぎり」はこの地方の狩猟習俗をよく伝えており、民俗学上貴重なものである。A tale of mountains and human souls spanning eternityThe Shiromi Kagura dance, performed at Shiromi Shrine in Saito City, was influenced by mountain ascetics. It also strongly reflects the mountain worship and hunting customs passed down since ancient times in the Kyushu and Mera mountain ranges. It was influenced by the elegant culture associated with Prince Kanenaga, a Shogun for the Western Expedition, who is said to have entered this area with the powerful Kikuchi clan in the Middle Ages. A member of the Shiromi Shrine family of priests brought back the Kagura dance that he had mastered at the Udosan Dojo (now Udo Shrine) in Nichinan City. It is said that this had a major influence on traditional Kagura, eventually becoming the "Shiromi Kagura" of today. It is characterized by the fact that Buddhist elements were completely swept away from the dialogue and chanting, while weaving in elements of Shugendo, Onmyodo, and Ryōbu Shinto, and was influenced by Yuitsu Shinto in the late Edo period. Thirty kagura dance pieces are performed throughout the night in front of a boar's head (shishigashira) offered on the altar of the outer shrine, commencing with "Kamimukae," a ceremony to welcome the local god to the shrine, followed by "Shishitogiri," a performance held in the afternoon featuring an old man, an old woman, and a hunting referee, who perform together a humorous portrayal of a boar hunt.
