One special highlight is the Gozemukae pre-marriage meeting on the 4th day of the Tatsukuri Festival (Monkey day of the lunar calendar). A priest goes to pick up the sacred body of the princess god. On the way back, she is prepared for her wedding, including purification and makeup rituals, and she arrives at Aso Shrine in the evening. When the procession of the princess god enters the shrine approach, the residents ignite thatch torches and swing them around to welcome her. On the 7th day (the last day of the festival), a priest stands before the divine couple to perform the Tatsukuri ritual, which is essentially a rice farming performance.A tour by 12 gods to observe the growth of rice plants!An enchanting procession through lush fieldsThis traditional festival, which has been passed down over the generations at Aso Shrine, an ancient shrine with a history going back over 2000 years, is held every year to pray for a bountiful harvest. During the festival, the 12 gods of Aso Shrine are carried in a procession of four mikoshi (portable shrines) to observe at the growth of rice planted in the green fields in the shrine area. The procession includes Unari, women wearing white costumes and carrying offerings to the gods on their heads, as well as Saotome (rice planting women), a wooden bull head, and others for a total of around 200 people.
