The largest one is “Hirado Kunchi,” an annual festival held at Kameoka Shrine.「平戸くんち」がいざなう、歴史と伝統に触れる平戸、そして「平戸神楽」「平戸神楽」は、戦国時代末期の元亀年間（1570年〜1573年）、平戸に拠点を置く松浦氏の支配下に入った壱岐島の神職が同地に伝わっていた御竈祭（みかまどまつり）の神楽を伝えたことが発祥とされ、元禄時代平戸松浦家第29代鎮信（天祥）の頃、家臣の橘三喜が、古来から伝わる平戸の神楽を基礎としつつ、諸国の一の宮の神楽を見て回り、粋を集めて完成させたと言われている。神楽の舞は、全部で24番まであるが、すべて舞われるのは、毎年10月26日の亀岡神社の秋の例大祭「平戸くんち」で奉納される大大神楽のみとなっている。「二剣の舞」は、平戸神楽の代表的な舞の一つで、神武天皇の東征の際の一幕で、太刀によって邪気が祓われる様を演じている。太刀を口にくわえて、小刀を両脇に抱えながら乱れ舞う様は、思わず息をのむほど圧巻である。1958年平戸神楽の振興・保護・育成を目指すため、神社の氏子等によって「平戸神楽振興会」を設立され、神楽の保存継承活動を行っている。”Hirado-kunchi” invites you to experience the history and traditions of Hirado and ”Hirado Kagura”.Hirado Kagura” is said to have originated in the Genki era (1570-1573), at the end of the Warring States period, when Shinto priests from Iki Island, which had come under the control of the Matsura clan based in Hirado, introduced the Mikamado Matsuri Kagura that had been handed down in that area. It is said that during the Genroku era (1688-1704), when Shigenobu (Tensho) was the 29th generation of the Matsura family in Hirado, his retainer Tachibana Mitsuyoshi, while using the traditional kagura of Hirado as a foundation, observed kagura from other shrines in other areas and gathered the best of them to develop the perfect form. There are 24 kagura dances in total, but all of them are performed only in the Daidaikagura offered at the annual grand autumn festival “Hirado Kunchi” of Kameoka Shrine on October 26. The “Two Swords Dance” is one of the representative dances of the Hirado Kagura, and is an act from Emperor Jinmu's expedition to the east, in which an evil spirit is purged by a sword. The dance is breathtaking as the dancer holds a sword in his mouth and a small sword at his sides while dancing wildly.
