More than 50 gorgeous floats called “taiko-dai,” decorated with gold and silver threads, are displayed. The floats, which are approximately 5.5 meters high, weighing 3 tons, and 13 meters long, are carried by a total of about 150 people called “kakio,” who parade through various parts of the city, shouting vigorously. Many taiko-dai are found along the coast of the Seto Inland Sea, but the one in Niihama City is particularly magnificent.
