Awa puppet theater sees three puppeteers work on a single show, a traditional performing art that continues to this day in Tokushima. One of the major plays, “Keisei Awa no Naruto Junrei Uta no Dan”, is performed every day at Awa Jurobe Yashiki (Puppet Theater and Museum). The puppets move as intricately as living things as the narrator’s tale reverberates throughout the venue. A summer festival at Yasaka Shrine (in Shishikui), one of Japan’s best Gion festivalsThis Gion festival, which is one of Japan’s best of its kind, is held every year on July 16 and 17 at Yasaka Shrine, which is in Shishikui, Tokushima Prefecture. On Yoimiya, the first day of the festival, around 400 rounds of fireworks light up the night sky. On Honmiya, the next day, there are various events, including Noh dancing, the throwing of mochi rice cakes, and a parade that includes three danjiri floats and one sekibune military boat. The three performers work together closely to breathe the puppet to life.能舞は、先槍（さきやり）の舞、八橋の舞、獅子舞の3つで構成される。小鼓や笛の音に合わせ、児童が優雅に舞う姿が、祭りに彩りを添える。The Noh dancing during the festival includes three traditional dances: the Sakiyari no Mai, Yatsuhashi no Mai, and Shishimai.
