Please check the latest information before planning your visit.家元なき狂言の流派鷺流を町衆の手で今日まで伝承狂言は、能とともに能楽と言われ、室町期に確立し、鷺流は大蔵流・和泉流とともに流派の一つである。鷺流狂言は、徳川家康に庇護されたことで、江戸時代を通じて狂言の筆頭格として隆盛した。しかし明治維新後幕府や藩の後ろ盾を失い、能楽全般が衰退し、特に、鷺流は歌舞伎役者に狂言を教え、ときの家元が流派をまとめる力がなかったことなどが原因で、流派としては廃絶した。現在、鷺流の芸を伝える団体は全国に3か所あり、山口の鷺流は、萩藩お抱え狂言方であった春日庄作が、明治19年野田神社上棟式の神事能に招かれ狂言を演じ、それを縁に山口の町衆に伝えたことがきっかけで、現在まで伝承されている。昭和29年、山口鷺流狂言保存会が結成され、後世に伝える活動を開始。近年は、小中学校でのワークショップなど年30回程度の依頼公演と１回の定期公演を行っている。 ホームページ ▶ https://yamaguchi-sagiryu.com/例年10月〜11月に定期公演を開催場所：野田神社能楽堂アクセス情報はHP参照山口鷺流狂言保存会事務局（山口市教育委員会文化財保護課内）083-920-4111Regular performances are held in October and Novembereach year.Place: Noda Shrine Noh TheaterFor access information, please refer to the website.Yamaguchi Sagi-ryu Kyogen Preservation SocietySecretariat (Yamaguchi City Board of Education, CulturalProperties Protection Division) 083-920-4111中世の人々や、実際には有り得ない登場人物が滑稽なやり取りを繰り広げる。見ている人が自分の日常にも置き換えられるところが狂言の魅力である。Medieval people and characters who could never actually exist engage in comical exchanges. The Sagi-ryu is one of the schools, along with the Okura and Izumi schools. The Sagi school of Kyogen flourished as the leading form of Kyogen throughout the Edo period (1603-1867), thanks to the patronage of Tokugawa Ieyasu.However, after the Meiji Restoration, Nohgaku lost the backing of the shogunate and clans, which led to its decline. In particular, the Sagi-ryu school, which taught Kyogen to Kabuki actors, fell into disuse as a school due to the lack of a unifying force among the school's headmasters at the time. Currently, there are three groups in Japan that carry on the style of the Sagi-ryu. Yamaguchi's Sagi-ryu began when Shosaku Kasuga, a kyogen performer of the Hagi clan, was invited to perform kyogen at Shinto Noh held at Noda Shrine's ceremony called “Jotoshiki” in 1887. This led to its transmission to the townspeople of Yamaguchi. In 1954, the Yamaguchi Sagi-ryu Kyogen Preservation Society was formed and began activities to pass on the tradition to future generations.
