Since then, it is said that celebrations began and ended with Yassa. In 1970, it was performed at the Japan World Exposition in Osaka, and became a representative folk dance of Hiroshima Prefecture. The Mihara Yassa Festival has become a representative summer festival of the Chugoku region, attracting more than 400,000 people every year. From around 5:00 p.m. on the first and second days, about 5,000 dancers parade around the area in front of Mihara Station, shouting “Yassa, Yassa” and dancing to the rhythm of musical accompaniment.
