The powerful dances and awe-inspiring atmosphere enchant many people.表的な神楽である。演目は、日本武（やまとたける）の東夷征伐、天照大御神（あまてらすおおみかみ）の天の岩戸こもり、須佐之男命（すさのおのみこと）の八岐の大蛇（やまたのおろち）退治など神代、古代の様々な神話に由来したもので、古くから氏子によって支えられてきた。明治34（1901）年に出雲市の出雲大社宮司に認められて以降、120年以上にわたり出雲大社の毎年5月14日〜16日の例祭で、三日三夜にわたり神前に奉納されている。また、雲南市の須我神社の毎年9月28日の例大祭では4年に1度の奉納などで上演されている。舞方は、神楽面、冠をつけ、豪華な衣装を身にまとい、囃子方の太鼓、笛、鼓、手拍子等に合わせて舞う。活用賞を受賞した「出雲神話と神楽フォーラム実行委員会」は、雲南市大東町で、神楽の博物館と劇場である「古代鉄歌謡館」と神楽の伝承館としての「神楽の宿」建設に貢献し、「出雲神話と神楽フォーラム」を度々開催するなど、地域の発展に貢献した。A spectacular drama piece based on ancient mythsUshio Sannouji Kagura is a typical kagura dance in the Izumo region that has been passed down in Daito Town, Unnan City, the setting of Izumo mythology. The performances are derived from various ancient myths, such as the conquest of the eastern barbarians by Yamato Takeru, the hiding place of Amaterasu Omikami at Amano-Iwato (heaven's rock cave), and the slaying of the Yamata no Orochi (eight-forked serpent) by Susano-o no Mikoto and have been supported by shrine parishioners since ancient times. The dance has been offered to the gods for three days and three nights at the annual festival of Izumo Taisha Shrine from May 14 to 16 for over 120 years, ever since it was recognized by the priest of Izumo Taisha Shrine in Izumo City in 1901. It is also offered at the annual festival of Suga Shrine in Unnan City on September 28th every four years. The dancers wear kagura masks, crowns, and extravagant costumes, and dance to the drums, flutes, hand drums and hand claps of the musicians.
