The spectacular “yarimawashi” turnaround is a must-see.This is a lively festival where huge danjiri floats boldly race through the streets to the shouts of “Sorya! Sorya!” and a fanfare of noisemakers. The “yarimawashi” turnaround is where the roughly four-ton danjiri floats are turned at right angles at every corner while maintaining the same speed. Spectators can be hear cheering loudly each time this spectacular turnaround is performed. The elaborate carvings on the danjiri floats are also amazing.
