The way the circle surrounding the turret spreads out in layers has become a famous feature of Yao's Bon Odori dance.まった楽譜や歌詞がない中で、即興で読み上げる音頭取りの妙と、他の盆踊りでは類を見ないエレキギターやシンセサイザーなど洋楽を用いた演奏が合わさった音楽性豊かな語り芸として、多くの人に親しまれている。「八尾の地蔵さん」として親しまれている常光寺には、室町時代初期の常光寺再建の折、歌われた木遣り（きやり）音頭を原形とする「八尾の流し」と呼ばれる河内で最も古いと言われている音頭が伝えられており、毎年8月23日、24日にはこの「流し節正調河内音頭」による地蔵盆踊りが行われている。約600年歌い継がれている流し節正調河内音頭は、太鼓だけを用いたゆるやかなリズムと哀調を帯びた唄が特徴で、それに合わせた素朴で優雅な踊りは、戦後に生まれたバイタリティ溢れる現代の河内音頭とは異なる趣がある。河内音頭の本場である八尾市では、夏には市内の様々な所で櫓（やぐら）が立ち、秋には八尾河内音頭まつりが盛大に開催されることが恒例行事となっており、流し節正調河内音頭や現代の河内音頭を楽しむことができる。A storytelling art that combines Western music and narrative ballads accompanied by shamisen playing! Without fixed music scores or lyrics, it combines the ingenuity of a leader who improvises aloud without set musical scores or lyrics, and the use of Western musical instruments such as electric guitars and synthesizers, unique among bon dances. It is well known and loved by many people. Jokoji Temple, popularly known as Yao's Jizo-san, has an Ondo folk song called Yao no Nagashi, which is said to be the oldest in Kawachi and was originally sung at the time of Jokoji Temple's reconstruction in the early Muromachi period. Jizo-bon dances are held annually on August 23rd and 24th to the music of this Nagashibushi Seicho Kawachi folk song. Nagashibushi Seicho Kawachi folk songs, which have been sung for about 600 years, are characterized by a slow rhythm and melancholic singing using only drums. The simple and elegant accompanying dance has a different feel than those of modern Kawachi Ondo folk songs, which were developed after the Second World War and are full of vitality. Turrets are set up around Yao City, the home of Kawachi Ondo folk songs, in the summer.
