In recent years, it has been performed at New Year's, festivals, weddings, and other celebratory events.尚)と舞妓の姿に変装して踊る祝い踊りである。春駒踊りの演目は、大黒による「俵ころがし」、舞妓の「春駒」、七福神の「まくら踊り」、恵比寿・大黒の「鯛釣り」、舞妓の「銭大黒」、七福神の「きり大黒」の6種が連続して行われ、それぞれに歌詞がついている。「春駒」を舞う舞妓は、色紙を細かく切って総状にした采（さい）を手にし、振り踊るしぐさは春駒の名残を思わせる。采の動きが馬の鬣(たてがみ)を連想させるからである。春駒は本来、正月に神が仮装して客人神として現れ、人々に幸福をもたらすと考えられていたものであるが、白川村の春駒は近世において養蚕の盛んな時期に蚕飼（こがい）祭として、初午に家々を廻る祭礼に変化したものである。The sight of Daikoku-sama rolling the bales while chanting, “One roll brings 1,000 bales, two rolls bring 2,000 bales,” is an important event that brings a hopeful spring to the snowy village of Shirakawa-go.The Shirakawa Village Harukoma Odori is a celebratory dance in which the performers disguise themselves as the seven gods of good fortune (Jurojin, Daikokuten, Fukurokuju, Ebisu, Benzaiten, Bishamonten, and Hotei) and maiko. Harukoma Odori consists of six different dances performed in succession, each with its own lyrics: “Tawara Korogashi” by Daikoku, “Harukoma” by the maiko, “Makura Odori” by the seven gods of good fortune, “Tai Fishing” by Ebisu and Daikoku, “Zeni Daikoku” by the maiko, and “Kiridaikoku” by the seven gods of good fortune. The maiko performing “Harukoma” holds a “Sai” (a bunch of small piece of colored paper) in her hand and dances with it in a gesture reminiscent of the rest of Harukoma. The reason for this is that the movement of the Sai is reminiscent of a horse's mane. Harukoma was originally believed to bring happiness to people during the New Year's holiday, when a god would appear as a guest in disguise.
