Commonly known as the “Osuzumi Festival”.The Iida Toroyama Festival is a float festival held annually on July 20 and 21 in Iida Town, the center of Suzu City, at the tip of the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture. This festival has a history of more than 370 years as a Shinto ritual of Kasuga Shrine, which is located in Iida Town.The original floats were pulled out one by one from each of the eight towns during the Kasuga Shrine Festival. Eventually, each town began to compete in the size of the floats, with the largest one standing approximately 16 meters tall and weighing 5 tons. It was a huge device, consisting of the base, a cart, a frame, a small platform, a large platform, and dolls. In the Taisho era (1912-1926), the huge lantern floats disappeared once the construction of utility poles began, but now one of the old lantern floats has been restored by a volunteer group. In 2024, the parade of floats through the town was canceled due to the Noto Peninsula earthquake, but each district displayed a float instead. This is a major annual event for local residents, and the floats, which are the main characters of the festival, are carefully protected as the town's treasures.
