Regular Noh performances are held every year on April 3 and Takigi Noh on August 15, attracting many spectators.180年間にわたり集落の人々により代々引き継がれている村上市朝日地区の大須戸集落に伝わる民俗芸能の能楽で、黒川能の流れを受け継いでいる。明らかな資料はないが、幕末のころ羽前（山形県）庄内の黒川能の役者蛸井勘助が弘化元年（1844年）の冬、大須戸の庄屋中山与惣兵衛の家に宿泊して、この地に黒川能を伝授したのが始まりといわれる。嘉永4年（1851年）に村の鎮守八坂神社に奉納して以来、毎年演能の記録がある。その後、地域の安全や五穀豊穣を祈念する神事能として、また農閑期の娯楽として継承されてきたと言われている。現在は、例年4月3日に行われる定期能と、8月15日に行われる薪能で鑑賞することができる。Passed down from generation to generation by the villagers for 180 yearsThis is a folk performing art of the Osudo community in the Asahi district of Murakami City, and is a continuation of the Kurokawa Noh tradition. Although it is not well documented, it is said to have originated in the winter of 1844 (at the end of the Edo period), when Takoi Kansuke, a Kurokawa Noh actor from Uzen (Yamagata Prefecture), stayed at the home of Nakayama Yosobei, the village headman of Osudo, and introduced Kurokawa Noh to this area. Since 1851, when it was dedicated to Yasaka Shrine, the village’s Shinto shrine, there have been records of annual performances. It is said to have been passed down through the generations as a Shinto ritual to pray for the safety of the community and a bountiful harvest, and as entertainment during the off-season for farmers.
